As a European Union member, Romania must contribute through the expertise, academic contacts, connections and knowledge of its academic staff to the outlining of viable policies concerning the advanced proximity of the EU.

The Institute of Turkish and Central Asian Studies of Universitatea Babes-Bolyai, is the only institution in Romania where the history, language, culture, and civilization, the current political-economic systems are studied, as well as the resources and perspectives of the entire turcophone area, including Central Asia, the Caspian Basin and the one of the Volga.
